This recipe took 2nd Place in the Pearson Farm Pecan Recipe contest at the 2025 Georgia National Fair. You will definitely want to make this to serve at your next family gathering.
Ingredients:
3 cups of chopped pecans, divided 1 cup, plus 1 Tbsp flour
2/3 cup, plus 2 Tbsp granulated sugar 12 Tbsp softened butter, divided
24 oz softened cream cheese 2 eggs
3 tsp vanilla, divided 1/3 cup sour cream
1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup heavy cream 1/2 tsp salt
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- Line a 9 x 13 baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.
- In a bowl, combine 1 cup of the pecans, 1 cup of the flour, 2 Tbsp of sugar, and 8 Tbsp butter until it forms uniform crumbs
- Pat the crumbs into the prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes.
- While crust is baking, beat the cream cheese and add eggs one at a time. Stir in 1 Tbsp flour, 2/3 cup sugar, 2 tsp vanilla, and sour cream until smooth.
- Pour the filling over the crust and return to the oven for 20 minutes.
- While the cheesecake layer is baking, combine remaining 4 Tbsp of butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, heavy cream, and salt in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring frequently. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of chopped pecans and remaining vanilla.
- Pour pecan topping over the cheesecake layer, and return to the oven for 25 minutes.
- Chill and cut into individual pieces before serving.
