Years ago, Lawton ordered Flavorcrest peach trees from a nursery. He planted them, cared for them, and waited patiently for the first fruit. But when those peaches finally arrived, something didn’t add up. They weren’t Flavorcrest! The color was different. The shape was different. The flavor was different. Over the years, Lawton became a bit of a peach detective, comparing notes, studying varieties, and talking with other growers. His best guess? These mystery peaches could be a Michigan variety known as PF Lucky 13. But he can’t say that with complete certainty. What he does know is that these “mistake” trees produce some of the most beautiful, juicy, freestone peaches on the farm. This week we are celebrating one of our favorite farm stories with a special limited offering: 13 handpicked mystery peaches shipped straight from Pearson Farm. These peaches remind us that farming doesn’t always go according to plan-and that there’s a little bit of “luck” involved.
