Keto-Friendly Pecans
At Pearson Farm, we’re fans of the keto diet - and any dietary choices that can lead to improved health and defense against diabetes, epilepsy, cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
Because the ketogenic diet is low-carb and high-fat, it is set up perfectly to include the incredible superfood that is pecans. Unfortunately, keto-friendly foods aren’t always obviously labeled, so deciphering which foods are right for your diet can be a little trickier - especially when it comes to nuts. We’re happy to report that pecans are the best nuts for the keto diet.
The Best low-carb nut
Fortunately, our favorite tree nut is well known for its low-carb content - just 4 grams of net carbs per 3.5 ounces, or about three handfuls. It also has the ability to provide immense amounts of nutrients, which not only boost your health, but also keep your body on track to reaching a state of ketosis and burning fat for energy. So, while other nuts are high in fat and carbs, pecans are a smart choice when you’re on the keto diet because of their generous healthy fat and protein content.
GREAT SOURCE OF FIBER
When we talk about keto, we talk a lot about carbs, but keto-friendly nuts are also consistently higher in dietary fiber. Maintaining healthy cholesterol and blood sugar levels while you’re on the keto diet will subsequently reduce inflammation, help you maintain energy and boost your overall health to work to prevent risks like type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
ADAPTABLE FOR YOUR LIFESTYLE
Our favorite (and the easiest) way to incorporate pecans into your keto diet is to snack on a handful in between meals. Enjoying a salad for lunch? Pack a small container to toss on top. They’ll help you stay full, provide a sweet layer of flavor and a crunchy texture to your everyday mix.
