Maple Pecan Pie Bars

Maple Pecan Pie Bars

Like your favorite pecan pie, these Maple Pecan Pie Bars created by Mariah at The Farm Chicken are the perfect treat to share with family and friends. The simple thin crust on the bottom boasts the pecan flavor with pecan meal added to it while it supports the maple gooey center and crunchy sweet pecan topping. The flavors blend nicely and this will easily become a family tradition around the holidays.

Crust Ingredients

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¾ cup pecan meal or all-purpose flour

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • ½ tsp sea salt

  • ½ cup butter, melted

Pecan Top Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cup Pearson Farm pecans, chopped

  • ¾ cup brown sugar

  • ½ cup corn syrup

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

  • 1/3 cup butter

  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten

  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350.

  2. In a medium bowl combine the flour, pecan meal, brown sugar and sea salt. Stir this until combined and then add the melted butter and mix until well incorporated.

  3. Next, pour the crust into a lightly greased 9” x 13” pan. Using your hand pat the crust down evenly into the pan.

  4. Place the pan into the preheated oven and let the crust bake for 18-20 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

  5. While the crust is baking you can work on the filling/topping.

  6. In a small bowl, crack the eggs and lightly beat, set aside.

  7. In a large saucepan, combine the brown sugar, corn syrup, maple syrup and butter. Heat over low/medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and it starts to boil.

  8. Remove from the heat and very slowly add about 1 cup of the boiled mixture; mix continuously until it is well combined.

  9. Pour the egg and boiled mixture back into the rest of the pan stirring as you add it back.

  10. Next, stir in the pecans and vanilla.

  11. Pour this mixture over the baked crust and place in the oven to bake for another 25-28 minutes until set and golden brown.

  12. Cool completely before cutting. Enjoy!
